Not only is it about temperature, but it's also about cost as well. Get started as soon as you can to avoid chilly temps in your home at night.

|
Will you be hitting the big box stores to shop doorbusters in the wee hours on Black Friday?
If so, make sure you are careful and safe while doing so since it will still be dark outside when the sales start!
Happy Shopping!

Shopping Small on Saturday
|
Many stores are selling out of gift items fast because of shortages.
This season, try shopping small from local vendors in your community. Attend some craft fairs and find personalized items that everyone would love to receive this holiday season.
Want to shop online instead? Give Etsy a try!

Towards the end of each year, it's recommended to do a computer check up and some basic maintenance.
All of these things can be done at home, and for free if you choose to DIY.

Alzheimer's Awareness Month
|
Each September, people unite from all corners of the world to raise awareness and to challenge the stigma that persists around Alzheimer’s disease and all types of dementia.
This year’s theme, ‘Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s,’ continues on from the 2021 campaign, which focused on diagnosis, the warning signs of dementia, the continued effect of COVID-19 on the global dementia community and more.

Every year, our community comes together to ring the alarm on the diabetes epidemic. For the millions of us who are at risk for it, it’s a time to get educated, find resources and make sure all those around us are aware of their risk, too. And for the millions of us living with diabetes, it’s a chance to tell our stories and awaken the world. Until we find a cure, we will find each other and lift each other up. Will you join us?

From Epilepsy Foundation:
"Our theme is “There is no NEAM without ME”. We chose this theme because November is all about our community — YOU. Without your collaboration and support, we wouldn’t be able to build a seizure safe nation. Together with you, we can raise awareness and funds, educate the general public about the epilepsies and seizures, and push for more research to improve outcomes for you."

Part of living a simple life means taking time out of your busy schedule to help others. Just a quick visit with your elderly neighbors is as good for you as it is for them. And to know they are cared for, watched after and are staying warm in these cooler months is a very comforting thought!
Grab the family and head over to the neighbors and start some free yard clean up as the leaves start to fall! They will appreciate the help!

Family Watchdog wants to do something new and helpful with our newsletter. We want to highlight four random cases from National Center for Missing and Exploited Children so we can bring the awareness of our children missing in the United States. We highly encourage you to visit their website and search in your area to see what children are missing and what you can do to help. Do not approach missing children unless the child is in danger, always call 911 or 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678)
Each month we will randomly choose four missing children's cases from the NCMEC website. You can submit a missing children's case to us possibly highlight in one of our newsletters by emailing us.
